Innsbruck travel guide

When we are traveling, we always make a deep dive into the place we are visiting. Our goal is to experience places as unique as possible – soak up their specific character, the shops that you can just find in that one place, the coffees brought to life by the people living there rather than the tourist crowd, bars where you can feel the heartbeat of the city and the small insights locals share with you. We tried to create this guide for you – for people who want to travel off the beaten track and love design.

Things to do in Innsbruck

Discover the villages walking Lans/Igls/Vill
You can take the tram 6 to have a scenic ride from the city through the wood until you reach Lans and Igls. You can have a stroll to experience a well preserved village, walk around the Lanser See or take a path to Igls or Vill for a day in the country side. You can also use the J bus to get from Innsbruck to Vill. Get off at Vill and walk to Lanser See if you want to experience nature. If you take the bus until Igls Ortsmitte you will see traditional architecture of Hotels like the Batzenhäusl, Sporthotel Igls or the Ägidihof. If you walk through the village you can spot some old villas which have been used as a get away in hot summers by the Innsbruck upperclass in the 19th and 20th century. But there is also one modern white building which tells the story of recent history. An Austrian real estate investor bought a old hotel and made it his private home. When you get up by bus you can spot it between Vill and Igls on your left side.

Open Cinema
In summer Leokino hosts outdoor cinema throughout the month of August. Most of the time classic, indie or arthouse style movies are shown in their original language. They are shown at Zeughaus Innsbruck. You can check out the films at their homepage at www.Leokino.at

Around Innsbruck

Gasthof Isserwirt
If you take the bus J or M you can get straight to Lans. The small village still has a lot of the Tyrolian village character preserved. The Isserwirt has two traditional “Stuben” – rooms with wooden panels where you feel the Tyrolian cozyness. The hall combines the traditional elements with modern architecture. Take a look at the chandeliers. In summer they have a cozy terrasse as well. We recommend to make a reservation.
Dorfstraße 9 – Lans

Lanser See – Koi Bar
With the bus J you can easily reach Lans from Innsbruck. If you get of at Romedihof you are directly at the Lanser See. A even more scenic experience is it if you take the tram 6 from Innsbruck. The Lanser See is a private swimming lake with restaurant. In summers it offers a great escape from the heat with good food and drinks.
